American Country artist Kenzie Wheeler has released his Wax Records debut, the single, “B.O.A.T.” The first release since signing with the label, the track draws on the ’90s Country sound that has shaped Wheeler’s music, and deals with the “struggle of watching one expense after another stack up.”

Short for “Break Out Another Thousand,” “B.O.A.T.” follows Wheeler “through a day in which his money seems to be spoken for before he can even make it”.

It’s further described thus:

A blown motor derails his drive down Florida’s Highway 301, and when he finally makes it home, a growing wish list of boots, clothes and purses is waiting for him. As every new problem comes with another price tag, Wheeler leans into the absurdity of never quite getting ahead.

Wheeler shares:

I’ve always wanted to make country music that has that traditional sound but still feels right for today. ‘B.O.A.T.’ has that ’90s country feel I love, but it’s also a fun song that I think a lot of people can relate to. I’m excited for it to be my first release with Wax and for everyone to hear what we’ve been working on.

Written by Wheeler alongside Steve Molella and Brian Rivlin, “B.O.A.T.” was produced by Molella and Rivlin and recorded at Noble Street Studios in Toronto.

A seventh-generation Floridian raised in the small town of Dover, Wheeler grew up on the music of George Strait, Alan Jackson, Keith Whitley and Kenny Chesney. After releasing his debut album, Dover, in 2018, he was the runner-up on Season 20 of NBC’s The Voice, where he performed alongside coach Kelly Clarkson. He has since taken the stage at the Florida Strawberry Festival, House of Blues at Disney Springs, Hard Rock Tampa, The Dallas Bull and Ole Red locations across the U.S.
