The sister Folk duo of Sarah Julia have shared another taste of their forthcoming debut album, The Fear That is Real, with the electric-guitar song, “Whatever It Takes (Break Your Heart).” The song is a “lament” for “a lover who is emotionally unavailable.”
The sisters “trade their usual gentleness for energized angst”, thereby “capturing the desperate realization that the only way to make them value your presence is to leave.” The Fear That This is Real is due out October 9th, 2026, via Nettwerk.
Together with producer Phil Weinrobe (Big Thief, Adrienne Lenker, Florist, Sam Evian), Sarah Julia worked in Woodstock, NY, and drew inspiration from the town’s music history.
Inspired by Joni Mitchell, Judee Sill, and Vashti Bunyan, the sisters even captured album visuals at the Big Pink House, which was immortalized Bob Dylan and The Band. “Whatever It Takes (Break Your Heart)” follows “Bigger Picture,” and “Conversation.”
Sarah Julia have also shared 2026 Autumn tour dates, including a return to the US supporting Mon Rovia and a UK/EU headline tour. The US dates kick off on September 15th in New York City, taking them through Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and more, concluding in Seattle, WA on October 13th.
In November, the girls launch their UK/EU headline run of shows in Glasgow on November 14th, finishing on December 5th with a special hometown show in Amsterdam.
