San Francisco via New York City Indie Rock artist lucky break has shared a new video for “Pictures of Herself”. The video continues the story told throughout her debut album, made it! out now via Fire Records. This summer, lucky break will continue to tour across select U.S. cities, including select dates with Nashville artist Maisy Owen.
The visual for “Pictures of Herself” finds lucky break in an all-pink room and outside among animals and mountains.
The musician shares:
Originally, I had an idea where all of the music videos, when played in order, told some kind of story. In my mind, this pink room is where lucky break wakes up after she crawls through the tunnel in ‘Crush.’
Directed by close friend and frequent collaborator Margaret Elle, the pair pulled from the artist’s influences like Liz Phair and Elliott Smith.
Lucky break adds:
We were very inspired by Liz Phair’s music videos, as well as Elliott Smith’s ‘Rose Parade’ video–we reference this shot in the scene where i’m playing guitar with the two girls behind me.
The extras include lucky break’s little sister and Elle’s childhood best friend.

Produced by Grammy-nominated engineer Jessica Thompson (Margo Guryan, X-Cetra, Erroll Garner) and with friend and co-producer Elliott Woodbridge, lucky break drew from the sounds of her childhood.
The musician adds:
I solidified the sound of the record by blending everything I grew up listening to–from pop music and country music–and inspiration from 90s alternative indie like Pavement and Fiona Apple to Lucinda Williams, John Prine and Joni Mitchell found their way into the album as well.
