Late Slip’s ‘I Love You’ Is Retro-Pop With All The Feelings

I Love You is the first full-length album from Brooklyn-based Retro-Pop project Late Slip. The album was produced at the hands of Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, FIDLAR, Nikki Lane, Poolside) and is being released on 12” LP vinyl, CD, as a digital download, and via streaming platforms, June 7th, 2024 on Party Mermaid Records. Three singles are out now from the album including the Big Apple-embracing “New York City”.

Late Slip’s ringleader, Chelsea Nenni, was born on the East Coast but grew up in California. Elvis Presley was her first love and Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” her first favorite song. She studied opera in college, but Gwen Stefani gave her the guts to be in a band. Nenni moved to New York City in her mid-20’s to pursue a life onstage.

Teaching herself how to play guitar, what started as “a means to stave off seasonal depression” turned into “a vessel for big feelings.”

Moving to LA and working at Amoeba Music, this led to a recording session with Cian Riordan (Sleater-Kinney, St. Vincent, Beth Ditto, Grace Potter) at Barefoot Studios, resulting in the Other Men EP (2016). Amoeba regular Bobb Bruno led Nenni to Best Coast’s Crazy for You producer, Lewis Pesacov.

His pal, L.A. R&B artist Nick Waterhouse, soon joined the mix and the three penned “Strike (feat. Nick Waterhouse)” which she recorded for her Reelin’ EP (2020). The trio also created the title track for that EP which was released on Party Mermaid Records.
