Nashville-based band Brother Elsey are today sharing their new single “Red Tape” via River House Artists. Produced by Drew Long (KALEO, Judah & The Lion) and co-written with Madi Diaz, the new song “captures the all-consuming nature of anxiety.”
“Red Tape” arrives with a behind-the-scenes music video, giving fans a glimpse of life on the road for the Detroit natives.
Vocalist and guitarist Brady Stablein, who wrote the song with his brother/lead guitarist Jack Stablein and Diaz says:
‘Red Tape’ is a love/hate song to anxiety. Our friend Madi Diaz was coming off of tour and we were as well. We got to talking about the ins and outs of life on the road, how sometimes you get home and you almost feel like an alien. Anxiety is a big nasty cloud that tends to loom over what others see as ‘the dream,’ and that’s not easy to talk about most of the time. There are so many pseudo-guru ways to get your mind right these days, it’s exhausting to find the light. Sometimes you wanna just crash the car to get your head out of the rain, but we all know that’s not the way forward. ‘Red Tape’ is about giving it to yourself straight – the only way out is going through it.
“Red Tape” marks Brother Elsey’s first release following 2023 singles “Passing Through” and “Babylon”. Along with a series of self-produced singles and EPs over the last few years, including their 2021 release You Don’t Know Anything, they self-booked a tour schedule with acts like The Head and the Heart, Allen Stone, The Wallflowers, The War and Treaty, Boy Named Banjo and SUSTO.
Most recently, the group showcased at SXSW for the premiere of IFC’s film Dandelion, which they are featured in and includes an original score by The National’s Aaron Dessner.
