Chris Kasper Brings Spiritual Reflection To “Getting Right” Featuring Oliver Wood

Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Chris Kasper has shared “Getting Right,” the third single from his forthcoming album, Sunlight In An Empty Room, due May 10th, 2024 from Royal Potato Family. The Country-Funk, Gospel-influenced song features The Wood Brothers’ Oliver Wood on slide guitar and backing vocals.

Kasper explains:

‘Getting Right’ is my attempt at spiritual reflection, where souls seek redemption and renewal, finding solace in the waters of life. Through rhythm, gospel echoes, and a sweet dose of soul provided by Oliver Wood, it’s a toe-tapping ode to getting things right before the journey’s end.

The new album was co-produced by Jano Rix, Brook Sutton and JP Ruggieri, and recorded analog, direct to tape, at The Studio Nashville.

The inspiration for Chris Kasper to write and record Sunlight In An Empty Room was sparked by a mantra he’d heard urging individuals to “do something that scares you.” Kasper took up the challenge to “let his guard down, be vulnerable, get out of his comfort zone and let a new type of record-making take shape.”

He reached out to engineer/bass player Brook Sutton, and drummer/ musician extraordinaire, Jano Rix, both known for their work with The Wood Brothers, to set aside a long weekend at their Nashville studio. Adding JP Ruggieri for his distinctive guitar work, Kasper went to Nashville without demos or finished lyrics to record live-to-tape, with a band he never worked with before. Thus, “do something that scares you.”
