Nashville-based artist, multi-instrumentalist and Producer Dex Green has announced his debut album Imaginary War, due out June 28, 2024 via 3Sirens Music Group. Imaginary War finds Green taking inspiration from his love for visual storytelling and cinema.

Along with the announcement, he has shared his new single “It’s Only the End of the World,” a piano-driven song that “reminds us to relish life’s fleeting moments.”

Green says about the new single:

Nothing in life is permanent, we are constantly evolving and changing. Our relationship with the world, our relationships with others, our relationship with ourselves … it’s all in flux. What else can we do but have a little sense of humor about it all? Relish in the impermanence.

Imaginary War is a solo effort in which Green wrote every song, plays every instrument, and sings lead. During this time, he was heavily influenced by visual storytelling and cinema, including Alain Resnais’ ’60s French New Wave film Last Year at Marienbad.

Sonically, the album draws from his affinity for Synth-driven Psychedelic Pop, Jazz, ‘70s Rhythm and Blues and more. Many of the songs came together as instrumental tracks first, piecing the puzzle together layer by layer, often getting as far as choosing a song title before writing lyrics and melody to suit.

Green has been quietly helping other artists bring their ideas to life for decades. He’s collaborated with artists such as Elvis Costello, Margo Price, Nicole Atkins, Aaron Lee Tasjan and Shemekia Copeland, which resulted in a Grammy nomination for his work mixing and engineering her 2022 album Done Come Too Far. Additionally, he has enjoyed a long-time partnership with The Grahams’ 3Sirens Music Group as a go-to Producer.

3Sirens Music Group founder Alyssa Graham says:

Our goal at 3Sirens is to foster great artistic vision and support artists in their journey. Dex Green was one of the first artists we met in Nashville back in 2012. His long history and talent as a composer, engineer and producer set an incredible foundation for his debut album, Imaginary War. The record oozes beauty, originality and a creative edge unlike anything we’ve heard in the past 10 years. We are thrilled to bring Dex’s music to a broad audience and we know this record will enlighten music lovers of all types.
