With nearly twenty years since their last release, the British Alt-Rock band bôa has returned with new single, “Walk With Me,” out via Nettwerk.
As it happens, this previews the band’s new collection of music but is the first to follow their 1998 single “Duvet,” which soundtracked the Japanese Cult-Classic anime Serial Experiments Lain.
The song re-emerged on TikTok after being sampled by Yung Beef. It was then picked up as a soundtrack for nearly 300,000 TikTok videos. The sudden success helped bring the band back together to write and record more music.
Recorded with producer Chris Zane (Jack Antonoff, Passion Pit, St. Lucia), “Walk With Me” is a track that “envelops the optimism of starting over again.” More directly, it’s about meeting someone new after a past breakup, but you can also apply it to the band getting back together.
Bassist Alex Caird shares of the song’s vibe:
There was a sort of dreamy sound to it. It started with a little guitar part. Usually, for us, if a riff is good from the start, everything will just slot together.

After beginning a brief hiatus in the mid-2000s, the members of bôa moved on with their lives. Jasmine Rodgers studied zoology alongside playing solo performances. Alex Caird threw himself into art, painting, and teaching music. Their drummer Lee Sullivan focused on his family while writing and producing music. They all kept in touch. But their time apart gave them plenty of life experiences for a new chapter of music.
To celebrate the news of their new single, bôa is heading on tour starting on September 11, playing at Voodoo Room in San Diego and making stops in Los Angeles at The Fonda on September 13, Chicago at Thalia Hall on September 20, New York at Warsaw on September 25, and more before finishing in Washington D.C. at The Atlantis on September 29.
They share:
We have fans who’ve stuck with us, supported us. But the new fans also seem to be in a similar vein really. Our music can be whatever you want it to be. That’s the beauty of it.
