Jesse Dayton has announced an upcoming memoir and companion soundtrack set for release this November. The Beaumonster soundtrack is set to land on November 5th followed by the book on November 9th.
The soundtrack consists of song interpretations that are “part-greaser, a whole lotta twang, and quintessentially outlaw country badass” and highlights the many legendary musicians who Dayton has played alongside.
In his memoir, Dayton reveals “stranger-than-fiction encounters and outlandish experiences” from his wide-ranging career. Some of the highlights include playing as opener for punk legends Social Distortion, The Supersuckers, and X, catching the attention of Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, playing guitar on records and film with Cash, Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush, and Glen Campbell, writing and recording soundtracks for horror director/rockstar Rob Zombie, and directing Malcolm McDowell and Sid Haig in his own horror movie.
The companion album features Dayton performing songs written by the many talented musicians and songwriters featured throughout his memoir, including Waylon Jennings, Social Distortion, Townes Van Zandt, and Willie Nelson.
In recent years, Dayton has played guitar on Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan’s latest solo album, launched his own weekly show, Dayton’s “Badass Country Show,” on Gimme Country Radio and has been licensing a stack of songs for film and television as well as “touring his arse off” and releasing five albums with Blue Élan Records.
