Los Angeles-based Heavy Rock band Gale Forces has released new single, “Diviner,” accompanied by a music video directed by Arturo Baston.

“Diviner” is a song that “pays homage to the energy of self-reckoning and reflection” while noting that “personal change often requires wisdom and guidance from outside ourselves.” It also focuses on imagery of a “return to one’s true, childlike self.”

Frontman Jade Devitt shares:

This song was inspired by my partner asking me to open my heart and become more vulnerable in our relationship, which was a scary but liberating experience that has allowed for a fuller expression of feelings and fears. One can observe from personal experience the need for this on a wider human scale. The world needs more heart right now.

“Diviner” is the band’s first release to feature new drummer Dylan Howard, who replaces former drummer Isaac Carpenter (Guns N’ Roses). The accompanying video, directed by Arturo Baston, blends animation and symbolism with the band’s live performance, captured by Los Angeles videographer Manny Valenzuela. The visual features Sara Veilleux as the dancer-diviner at the center of the song’s journey.

Gale Forces has developed a sound rooted in ’90s Alternative Rock, also drawing from Post-Punk, Shoegaze, Hardcore, and heavy psychedelic music. “Diviner” sonically explores “punishing weight” but also thematically a “hopeful belief in renewal.”
