Missoula is the instrumental project from drummer Brooks Wackerman (Avenged Sevenfold, Bad Religion) and guitarist John Konesky (Tenacious D). They have released their new single “Crimson”, which shows off the nature of their collaboration, pushing the limits without the need for lyrics.
The track is the official lead single from their debut album, Death Doula, out June 26, 2026.
Previous single “Love Bombs” also hinted at the project’s direction. “Crimson”, however, is more like a score than a traditional rock single, due to its “structured, dynamic, and constantly shifting” nature.

Across the album, the duo moves between dense, riff-driven passages and more open, melodic stretches. The two players choose “restraint over excess” throughout the collection.
The duo have also made it clear that Missoula isn’t a casual side-project, but an artistic statement from them which is built on both of their many years of experience.
Konesky explains:
Missoula is what happens when you take the reins off and let yourself run free, naked and fearless, thru an infinite universe.
