The Prestige Brings Sound Design, Synthesizers, And Atmsopheric Layers To ‘Isthmos’

Paris-based Heavy Post-Hardcore band The Prestige have returned with Isthmos, their third full-length album, out now via Banshies. Narrative-driven, the eight-track record is “contemplative and immersive.”

Musically, Isthmos pushes further into The Prestige’s territory between Post-Hardcore, Sludge and chaotic Hardcore. For the first time, the band expands its sonic palette through deeper explorations of sound design, synthesizers and atmospheric layers.

Captured live with the band performing together in the same room, the recording preserves their live sound. The album was once again produced by Amaury Sauvé (The Apiary) and mastered by Thibaut Chaumont (Deviant Lab).

The album’s title derives from the Greek word for “a narrow strip of land connecting two larger landmasses while separating two bodies of water.” For the band, it also “symbolizes a passage between states of being.”

At its core, the album Isthmos explores transformations that “shape a life: grief, separation, birth, doubt and renewal.”
