Candid Records and Chick Corea Productions have released a CD and 2-LP vinyl set of Forever Yours: The Farewell Performance. Capturing the final performances of the pianist, the collection’s liner notes contain many messages of admiration gathered from family, friends and peers including Alicia Keys, Herbie Hancock, Hans Zimmer, Robert Glasper, Bobby McFerrin, Stanley Clarke, Lang Lang and others.
Since his death is a great loss to the Jazz landscape, the album stands as both as a goodbye and a document of the Chick Corea solo experience.
Recorded just four months before the NEA Jazz Master’s passing, the release follows the 2026 Grammy win of Trilogy 3 for “Best Jazz Performance”, an honor bestowed upon Chick just before the 5th anniversary of his death. Ahead of the release, an official video for “Overjoyed”, has also arrived.
When asked about Chick Corea’s uncanny ability to bridge the gap between composers of all genres, longtime collaborator Bernie Kirsh says:
He looked up to the musicians he loved, and in his own exploration of some of their pieces, he found similarities between them–even if centuries separated their works. By combining such works in his solo performances, say a Mozart with a Gershwin, he could showcase some unexpected connections in an exciting way.

The album music was recorded in October of 2020 when Corea gave two solo piano concerts at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL. In the program, Corea offers his original music (“Armando’s Rhumba,” a mini-recital of his Children’s Songs) alongside homages to some of the composers he held dearest: Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, Mozart, Stevie Wonder, Bill Evans, Duke Ellington.
Throughout the recording, audiences can hear Corea’s uncut spoken interludes, where he introduces tunes and explains concepts in an affable way. He also performs two of his “Portrait” pieces, in which he brings members of the audience onto the stage and improvises music based on their presence.
