Bruecken’s “Onward Transmission” Is Steeped In A Space And Sci-Fi Vibe

Bruecken have returned with new single and video “Onward Transmission”, the first song they’ve written as a five-piece after Bernd joined on synths. It was born from “intuitive experimentation” and resulted in integrating electronics into the band’s songwriting.

With its space- and sci-fi vibe, “Onward Transmission” is accompanied by a self-created video built from re-cut archival footage. The band are intent on “balancing retro nostalgia and science fiction.”

The single also sets the tone for Years That Answer, the band’s third full-length album. Inspired by Zora Neale Hurston’s line “There are years that ask questions, and years that answer,” the album “confronts a world shaped by climate crisis, war, and rising authoritarianism, asking how hope can survive—and transform—in turbulent times.”

Recorded across Berlin and Oldenburg, mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna, Russian Circles, Refused), Years That Answer balances heaviness with atmospheric depth to build an immersive sound.
