Antonio Larosa’s “I Don’t Shine” Examines The Proof Of The Miles We’ve Lived

Country-Roots artist Antonio Larosa has released “I Don’t Shine,” a Country track that “centres on how time leaves its mark.” Using the image of a weathered old car, the song “moves through aging, endurance, and the people who stay with you through every mile”.

The idea for “I Don’t Shine” came to Larosa while he was away from home, alone in a hotel room watching late-night television.”

Larosa recalls:

Jay Leno was showing a 1976 Chevy Impala on his car show, and he said something like, ‘it doesn’t shine like it used to. That line hit me right away, and I knew I wanted to build a song around it.

The rust, the scars, and the wear we pick up along the way are proof of the miles we’ve lived.

The track was recorded live off the floor at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, the former Mushroom Studios. The track was recorded using analog gear and capturing the band playing together in real time.

At its core, Larosa says that “I Don’t Shine” is about loyalty.

Larosa explains:

It’s about the people who stick with you through the long drives, the tough moments, and the uncertainty that comes with this music life. I’ve been lucky to have people like that around me who support me when I come home feeling worn down.
