Australian singer/songwriter Stu Larsen has returned with his new single “If I’m Honest,” which will be a part of his latest collection of music set to be released in 2026. The song is about “stepping back from the chaos of fame and fleeting trends, and choosing honesty over the spotlight.”
Stu Larsen shares about the track:
Is life just some weird dream? I don’t know what I think of the world with all its craziness, of politicians, celebrities, fame, money, power, and everything that seems to go along with it. This song was written near Nevada City, California, USA, and the more I live this quiet way, the more I love it. It’s not for everyone, but I think it is exactly what is calling me. I would rather live the simple life than endlessly chase things that don’t bring genuine happiness. Fame? If I’m honest, I’d be honoured, but I don’t want it.
Larsen grew up in a small rural community in Queensland. Around 2010, he decided he wanted to see and experience the world. He joined friend and fellow musician Mike Rosenberg, better known by his stage name Passenger, on tour.
Stu adopted the nomadic lifestyle that would inform the entirety of his early catalogue, including debut album Vagabond and follow-up LP Resolute, but a period of personal upheaval helped inform Larsen’s third full-length album, Marigold, which saw him dealing with the end of a relationship. He was joined by another longtime friend and fellow musician, Tim Hart (Boy & Bear), in Sydney’s Golden Retriever Studios.
Now, he’s ready to embark on a new album.
