Roots label Bloodshot Records has welcomed songwriter Sammy Brue to their roster for a new album he wrote using the journals of the late Justin Townes Earle, titled Journals. A native of Portland, Oregon, now living in Ogden, Utah, who has been writing songs from a young age.

He also has a personal connection with Justin Townes Earle, having met him outside a concert that he was too young to attend, and from attending a later all-ages show that JTE made sure to schedule.

Brue released his first album in 2017, and toured with JTE, who he considered his mentor, and also supported artists ranging from Lucinda Williams to Hayes Carll.

Sammy Brue says:

Bloodshot is the reason Justin’s music made its way to me, and the first people to give him a chance. We knew this album belonged here from the second it was done, while being the only people to really understand what this album is about.
