Toronto born, Philadelphia-based singer, songwriter, and educator Chana Rothman, will release her full-length album, Mother of Creation, on May 9th, 2025. The ten song LP blends Folk, Pop, and World Music influences. The collection of songs “carries messages of community, resilience, resistance, healing, sustainability, motherhood, childhood and a sense of belonging.”
Produced by member of the local music scene, Ross Bellenoit, and engineered by Doug Raus, Mother of Creation was recorded at Turtle Studios. To celebrate the album’s release, Chana Rothman will headline, accompanied by a full band, at The Fallser Club in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia on May 4, 2025. She will also perform solo at Hideaway Music in Chestnut Hill on April 4th, 2025 for their first Fridays’ Arts and Eats.
Rothman is a longtime resident of Mount Airy and her songs have been used by Philadelphia-based progressive leaders. To complete the album, the songwriter partnered with local artists and small woman-owned local businesses.

Rothman says:
At this moment, we are in need of medicinal music – music that points us toward hope. This collection of songs is a prescription for wellness: introspective balms of divine protection (‘Kameya’), childhood moments (‘Record Player’), and upbeat calls to collective action (‘Not For Sale’).
In addition to her original lyrics and melodies, Rothman honors her Jewish faith with four songs that are sung in Hebrew, and embrace ancient references updated for modern contexts. These songs include “Hineh Mah Tov,” “Kameya,” “Mah Rabu” and “Peace of the Open Road.”
Chana invited a group of Philadelphia singers to sing with her on a few of the songs. Cantor Brad Hyman of Congregation Rodef Sholom on Broad St, mixed heritage Ashkenazi/Mizrahi singer and composer Yosef Goldman, singer and public school music teacher Hillary Eisenman, cantorial soloist Bekah Robinson, singer and soloist Emily Joy Goldberg (producer of songs from the inside) and Emmy-nominated Philly-based singer/songwriter Avi Wisnia, all appear on the album.
