New York singer/songwriter Arsun (Arsun Sorrenti) has shared his new single “Wide World.” The release comes ahead of a pair of shows down in Austin, Texas later this week. First Arsun will perform at the Luck Reunion on March 13 alongside Willie Nelson, Charley Crockett, Steve Earle, Julien Baker & TORRES, The Deslondes and many more, before an official SXSW showcase on March 14 at the Saxon Pub.
On “Wide World” Arsun mines Country influences, Jazz, Brazilian favorites, The Beach Boys, and even The Police.
Arsun says of the track:
‘Wide World’ is an attempt to blend a lot of different styles that influence me greatly. It was super fun to record and mix, all done myself from beginning to end at my personal studio. For the background singers I just had a bunch of my friends come by and all sing into one mic and hang out. More than just trying to write and record a good song, I was trying to produce it in a way that is unusual and unexpected, while still maintaining that classic feeling.
The song is the first hint of a new album Arsun is working on, his followup to 2024’s Babe I Hear Thunder In Your Heart. He previously worked as part of Cat Power’s band for her re-creation of Bob Dylan’s 1966 Royal Albert Hall concert.
