Massy Ferguson’s ‘You Can’t Tell Me I’m Not What I Used To Be’ Leans Into Vintage Tones And Analog Production

Hailing from Seattle, Massy Ferguson has spent nearly twenty years exploring both sides of the boundary between Country and Rock. Now they’ve announced, You Can’t Tell Me I’m Not What I Used To Be, the band’s seventh album, which has a continuing mix of influences, but plenty of “twang and raw, guitar-driven bang.” The album single “When You’re Not Around” is out now and the album arrives in February 2025.

You Can’t Tell Me I’m Not What I Used To Be explores is the band’s “cinematic version” of rootsy American music, produced by Damien Jurado, a Folksinger himself. The album has “vintage tones, analog production, and lush instrumentation.”

Nearly 20 years into their career, Massy Ferguson have followed their own sound to a turning point and into new territory for their next chapter.
