Syd Silvair, is a singer-songwriter/mystic who is also a practitioner of Tarot and magic. Appropriately, Silvair has resurfaced with an “autumnal auditory offering” titled “Fugitive.”
The song is described as “an escapist daydream about killing off your identity and stepping into a new reality.” It embraces a reality where “our past dissolves and we are free of our former selves.”
Speaking on the new song, Syd says:
I wrote “Fugitive” after a friend who was in school for social work sent me an article from one of her classes about Dissociative Fugue State. It got me daydreaming about what it would be like to completely forget your identity and just re-emerge in a new place as a new person with none of your past weighing you down. I realized that the word Fugue and Fugitive come from the same root (latin ‘fugare’ – to flee), and so this fugitive character started forming in my mind, and the song is written from her perspective.

Since she is a tarot-reader by day, Syd is inspired by the “visual narratives of the deck,” and each track on her debut EP, Reverie, captures the essence of a specific tarot card.
Syd’s music has been played in Grey’s Anatomy, The Fosters, Bold Type, Honest Beauty and more. Syd also co-wrote and collaborated with Oliver Heldens on his single “Never Look Back ft. Syd Silvair.”
