Kentucky-based Rock band Wayne Graham have released their new single “I Had Plans” from their forthcoming album Bastion, due out September 6, 2024 via Hickman Holler Records/Thirty Tigers. “I Had Plans” is an exploration of “having lots of dreams, plans, and being smacked down by a cruel world with other ideas” and is accompanied by a Charlie Brown-style animated video.

Bastion, which is their ninth studio album, embraces their Appalachian roots, but leans into Indie Rock sounds, as well as bringing in some Jazz influences. The album explores themes of “the meaning of home, and the feeling of no longer belonging to a place you grew up in.” Wayne Graham comprises brothers Kenny and Hayden Miles, as well as José Oreta and Germany-based instrumentalist Ludwig Bauer.

Kenny Miles says about their rootedness:

I feel very fortunate to be able to say we’re from here, and it’s inspiring to watch other people from this region find success. At the same time it can be very isolating. It feels strange to play our hometown, because our music isn’t what people are looking for here. Sometimes Wayne Graham feels like a square peg in a round hole.
