Loosegroove Records is celebrating four years since the relaunch of the label. To mark the label further, they are sharing a new release every day this week.

Stone Gossard, Loosegroove Records owner and member of Pearl Jam, Painted Shield, and Brad comments:
After 4 years of our Loosegroove reboot, we are really feeling the momentum and excitement building all of our amazing artists and bands. This is really like playing in the sandbox with all your best friends. Getting to hear new songs, new approaches, musical breakthroughs, and building our little community with friends. Thank you to everyone that has been part of this journey. Much more to come.
Loosegroove’s celebratory week culminates this Saturday, March 2nd at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle featuring sets from Painted Shield, Brittany Davis, Mason Jennings, Zoser, and Jonny Polonsky. ” Limited tickets are still available here.
The release of Mason Jennings’ “Closer to the Heart” from his upcoming album Holy Dive, arriving May 3rd, 2024, is the first of Loosgroove’s celebratory releases this week.
What are my musical roots?” was a question Mason Jennings asked himself a few years ago while watching the Ken Burns’ Country Music documentary series.
He shares:
So many of the artists I loved on there were talking about their musical roots and it got me thinking about mine. Well, I didn’t grow up in rural Arkansas in the 30’s. I grew up in suburban Pittsburgh in the 80’s. So, my roots are hair metal. I played a hot pink electric guitar. I learned to play from Metallica and White Lion guitar books. The first music that felt like my own personal music, not my parents’, was the rock music I saw and heard on MTV. My first concert was Cinderella and Bon Jovi. They were filming the video for “Wanted Dead Or Alive”. I was mesmerized.
Over the pandemic, Mason Jennings did some virtual concerts online where he performed a lot of cover songs. It got him thinking about doing a covers album but he couldn’t figure out what songs he wanted to cover. Then it hit him:
I’d like to make a covers album of my musical roots. Hard rock and heavy metal songs done in my current style.
That’s exactly what we get with Holy Dive, out on May 3rd, 2024. An official video for the track “Closer To The Heart” is out now.
