Vancouver-based all-saxophone chamber ensemble Saxophilia, will be releasing their second album Metamorphosis via CD and digital format on Redshift Records next Friday, September 1st, 2023.
The group has been a fixture within Canadian contemporary music circles for over 25 years.
This new outing unites an array of aesthetics within a narrative feel that unfolds over the album’s duration. Startingwith Fred Stride’s Jazz informed writing, the recording engages with the Canadian modernism of Violet Archer, Beatrice Ferreira’s work, Rodney Sharman’s homage to Robert Schumann, as well as material from Saxophilia member David Branter.
The group will also be performing in Vancouver on September 15th, 2023 to celebrate the release.
