Ryan McMahon has previewed his forthcoming album Live Now, with the single “Sometimes Life’s Amazing.” Live Now is McMahon’s first album since 2019’s In Line For A Smile. The creation of Live Now began in early 2022 with the recording of “One More Fire,” arranged through the help of Juno-nominated country artist Aaron Pritchett.
Pritchett connected McMahon with his son Jordan and production partner Danielle Marie, and together with engineer Sheldon Zaharko (Steve Dawson, Matt Anderson, Billy Talent), they crafted Live Now at Vancouver’s Warehouse Studios.
McMahon says:
The entire record is a reminder to myself of just how rich my life is, and how to dig in and persevere no matter what is going on around me.
McMahon has six releases under his own name, and one with his side project Lion Bear Fox. His has received multiple Vancouver Island Music Awards and supporting slots for Burton Cummings, Mother Mother, Lee Harvey Osmond and others.

McMahon adds:
I’ve long had a wide variety of influences, but before creating these new songs I really did some deep dives into the careers of current Americana-type artists that I really admire. Jason Isbell, Nathaniel Rateliff, Father John Misty, Israel Nash—these artists are out there, doing their own thing using highly artistic and simultaneously entertaining methods, all the while telling their truth. That’s what I want to do.
