Philadelphia-based songwriter Julia Pratt and Indie Folk rockers, Mt. Joy have joined forces for the new collaboration, “A Little Love,” out now. Featuring Pratt’s layered soprano vocals and electric guitars, and Matt Quinn of Mt. Joy’s harmonies, the new track is an “ode to heartbreak”.

Alex MillerJohn Nelson (Suki Waterhouse, Devon Cole, gnash), and Caleb Nelson (Longtime Mt. Joy collaborator) all contribute to the duet that was sparked from a friendship between two Philly artists.

The two songwriters were introduced to one another after Mt. Joy caught a viral performance of Pratt singing their song “Dirty Love” via TikTok.

Pratt shares:

I met Matt last August after he saw my ‘Dirty Love’ TikTok and he invited me to sing the song with them during their September show at The Mann. It was such an insane and incredible experience for me as I’ve been a super fan of theirs for years. Matt and I stayed in touch after the show, and I ended up sending him a link to my demo folder. He told me ‘A Little Love’ immediately caught his attention because of its simplicity and intimacy. I mentioned that I heard the song as a duet (hint, hint) and I was completely over the moon when he asked me to be on it!

Quinn recalls:

Julia sent me a Dropbox of demos and the first song in the folder was a demo of ‘A Little Love.’ I played it over and over and was singing it all over my house. She later explained that she had always heard the song as a duet, and I shamelessly asked if I could take a crack at singing and helping finish the track up. I love this tune and I am so proud of how it turned out. I hope you listen and discover Julia and her unique spirit and unforgettable voice. Thank you, Julia, for letting me be a part of your beautiful song.

This Fall, Julia Pratt will be making appearances at WXPN’s XPoNential Festival and Philly Music Fest. In the midst of their 2023 tour, Mt. Joy comes home for two performances at The Mann Music Center August 12th and 13th.
