The Old Dead Tree Collaborates Again For “Terrified”

French Dark Metal outfit The Old Dead Tree have released a video for “Terrified” via Season of Mist. The band also recently announced that they’re playing Hellfest Open Air in France on June 18, 2023.

Vocalist/Guitarist Manuel Munoz comments on the video:

My friends, It took 16 years for Nicolas Chevrollier and Manuel Munoz to start writing a new song together! The wait is now over. Let’s get TERRIFIED!

The Old Dead Tree’s latest album The End was released in 2020 via Season of Mist. This new EP was already written in 1999, a few days before the tragic loss of drummer Frédéric Guillemot.

Since its inception in 1997 by Manuel Munoz (vocals, guitars) and Nicolas Chevrollier (guitars), The Old Dead tree combines extreme Metal and Dark Rock / Pop and this continued when Frédéric Guillemot (drums) and Vincent Danhier (bass) decided to join and secure the line-up.

Their promising debut took a sudden tragic turn, when Frédéric Guillemot committed suicide just a few months later. The band members were inspired to exorcise the dramatic loss of their close friend by expressing the darkest feelings and frustration this trauma provoked in a new concept album.

The result was The Nameless Disease produced by Andy Classen and mastered by Goran Finberg. In 2020, the band signed a deal with Season of Mist which finally gave Frédéric’s epic eulogy a proper release.

After several successful albums and many tours, by the end of 2008, The Old Dead tree was starting to work on a fourth album. Some disagreements started to grow within the band, regarding commitment and musical direction. Those “differences of opinions soon turned out to be a dead-end problem” and led Manuel Munoz to make the decision of ending the band’s activities.

In 2013, in order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Nameless Disease, Manuel, Nicolas, Gilles and Raphael reunited, performing the album in its entirety on a series of live shows, including Hellfest. They also returned with their album The End, paying one last tribute to their long-lost friend, who disappeared 20 years ago.
