Los Angeles-based Alternative Pop artist Jei-Rynn has shared his debut EP, overreacting. To celebrate the release, Jei-Rynn has an hometown EP release show coming up on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Break Room 86 in Los Angeles.
After playing in bands for years, the pandemic and civil unrest of the turn of the decade inspired the beginnings of Jei-Rynn’s solo project. He built up his sound using guitar hooks reminiscent of Grunge and 2000s Emo Rock, as well as 808s and programmed beats more akin to Billie Eilish. Visually, in directing and editing his own music videos and other media, the artist takes reference from dark film auteurs such as David Lynch, Tim Burton, and Stanley Kubrick.
2022 saw the release of Jei-Rynn’s debut singles. To create these singles, Jei-Rynn teamed up with a range of talented producers, including Alex Newport (Bloc Party, At The Drive-In), Alex Arias (The Mowgli’s, Matchbox Twenty) and Marshall Gallagher (of Teenage Wrist). His songs explore “the anxieties of a post-pandemic America, depression and identity, and the complexity of relationships”.

Jei-Rynn’s debut EP was largely produced by ZK Productions (Mayday Parade, All Time Low), with the production team of Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, with one track produced by Alex Arias. Jei-Rynn describes himself as a “multiethnic, multi-genre, multi-instrumental artist”.
