UK Punks Darko Return To Challenge Complacency With Their ‘Sparkle’ EP

UK Punk veterans Darko are returning this week with Sparkle, a multi-genre EP showcasing classic Darko sounds “mixed with some new twists and turns”. It’s also the quintet’s first release featuring new frontman, Tom West, previously of Almeida. The EP will be available digitally, on 4-panel wallet CD and colored 12″ vinyl EP cut at 45 RPM. The band have also released a third single “Cruel To Be” which takes on bullying online culture.

Fans who want early access to all four tracks of the EP can purchase an exclusive 34-minute 4K feature, directed by Benny P (KoRn, Lenny Kravitz, Buzzcocks), featuring interviews and playthrough videos of Sparkle in its entirety, titled Sparkle In Motion.

In 2020, longtime vocalist Dan Smith returned to his native Australia and parted ways with the band after so long in that seat. Darko’s four other noisemakers have now curated a “backdrop of vicious, hybridised Skate Punk and Melodic Hardcore” for their new release.

Darko have now enlisted longtime touring compadre Tom West of UK band Almeida. The band continue to commit to confront “the complacent societal padding forced upon us all”, and to create new music where, “There is nothing hidden.”
