Singer-songwriter Alela Diane has recently released her sixth studio album, Looking Glass. The Portland, Oregon-based artist also released an official music video for “Dream A River” shot in the artist’s Victorian home in Southeast Portland. The transition out of her old, memory-filled home and into this historic fixer-upper “fueled the album’s bittersweet meditations on the borders of past, present, and future”.
Diane’s first new album in more than four years, Looking Glass also includes the recently released singles, “Howling Wind,” “Paloma”, and “When We Believed,” including videos and live sessions.
Regarding the album’s title, the original definition of “looking glass,” Diane notes, is “mirror,” but after Lewis Carroll published the novel Through the Looking Glass in 1871, the term took on a second meaning: “the opposite of what is normal or expected.”
She adds:
In the context of the album. Looking Glass refers to both meanings. It is a portal to past and future, and a reflection on all that lies between.

The artist will be marking the arrival of Looking Glass with a busy live schedule, including and European headline dates already underway in Berlin, Germany. She has also recently announced a new run of West coast dates beginning January 13th in Seattle.
