Swedish pop artist shy martin (Sara Hjellström) has revealed new single wish I didn’t know you”, as well as the track’s accompanying official video. Directed by shy herself, alongside her brother Hampus Hjellström near their hometown in south Sweden, viewers can take in the striking, isolated scenery focused on “mourning and then laying to rest the artifacts of a past relationship”.

“wish I didn’t know you” is the first new music shy has released since her 2021 singles “No Regrets” and “Feelings” that built on her career as a songwriter, having previously written tracks for the likes of The Chainsmokers, Ellie Goulding, Bebe Rexha and Astrid S. At this time, shy is totally focused on writing music for herself, with “wish I didn’t know you” being the first in a series of new releases expected in the coming months.

On the opening of this new chapter, shy says:

I’ve spent the last year and a half only focusing on my own music and on creating a safe creative space for myself. Luckily my brother pushed me to go back to how I first started writing – on my bed, on the guitar, about whatever I’m really feeling or going through at the moment. Writing these upcoming songs has been super important to me in a therapeutic way and I don’t think I’ve ever found more comfort in writing than I did last year. I’ve intentionally stayed in my own bubble to create more honest music that I can’t wait to share!
