British Rock band Placebo are getting ready to release their eighth studio album and tBheir first in nearly ten years, Never Let Me Go, arriving on March 25th from Rise Records. The latest track from the album, “Try Better Next Time” follows recently released “Beautiful James” and “Surrounded by Spies“.

Never Let Me Go singles so far have turned on a “frank and honest depiction of our modern times”. “Try Better Next Time” is the album’s “centrepiece” and has some apocalyptic elements, but also focuses on “new beginnings”. You’ll hear elements of environmental concern and the sobering reminder that the Earth will continue, whether humanity manages to continue or not.

Commenting, Brian Molko says:

It is not the end of the world, only the end of humanity, a distinction that in our overblown hubris we are unable to detect. Mother Nature has grown extremely weary of us. Try Better Next Time.

Never Let Me Go is further described as “a place to stare harsh realities in the face, while holding onto the hope of something brighter to come”.
