The Oklahoma City-based Read Southall Band have released their third studio album, For The Birds via Thirty Tigers, and with it, their single “Right or Wrong”.
Frontman Southall introduces the track:
“‘Right or Wrong’, simply put, is about asking the right questions, and pursuing the answers with your life. It’s easy to get to your mid-twenties and convince yourself that you already know everything you need to know about the world. It’s important to remain open to new information and new experiences and to be wary of anyone that is too sure of themselves, even if they’re in the mirror.”
Creating the new album had a lot to do with keeping the band together and establishing a new direction, according to Southall:
“I don’t think we would be a band without this album. I think for a while we were just focused on touring, getting out there and we didn’t take care of the music as needed. In a way, we needed that year off the road. We made an album and just worked. We refocused and decided this is what we want to be doing. We came up with For the Birds because it’s been so long and we were worried that nobody’s waiting for us. So maybe this record is ‘for the birds.’ If you like it, you like it. It is what it is. For us, it’s six individuals making tunes.”
