London-based Producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Will Dorey, better known as Skinshape, will release his 11th studio album, Chapman’s Pool, this Friday on on October 30th, 2026, via Lewis Recordings. Dorey, who used to play in the group Palace, has been playing headlining dates all over the world, including North America.
Chapman’s Pool is named after a local cove near where Dorey grew up on the south coast of England in Dorset, a place with no vehicular access, mostly frequented by local fishermen and the occasional tourists.
Skinshape will DJ as part of the Lewis Recordings 25th Anniversary Showcase taking place Tuesday, October 27th in Brooklyn, NY at Public Records, which will also feature performances from Edan, The Still Brothers, Charlie Forest, Midnight Cafe, Raining Blue, + more. Skinshape will next play shows in Greece, Spain, and Portugal taking place in November with more dates in 2027 to be confirmed.
The album was made, for the most part, at Dorey’s studio in the Finsbury Park area of North London, self- recorded and Produced with no outside assistance except mastering. Most of the instruments are played by Dorey, with the exception of Tom Blunt and Dan Hale on the drums. Various field recordings were captured outside of the studio, such as the sound of the waves lapping the shore close to Chapman’s Pool and other sounds used more subtly, including that of a car driving past at the end of “Take It As It Is.”
Written and recorded across 2024-25, Chapman’s Pool covers a variety of styles and sounds, and finds Dorey revisiting the first two Skinshape albums to some degree, while featuring more Mellotron and glockenspiel. The instrumental foundation is made up of electric guitar, bass, drums, piano, various keyboards, synths, drum machines, and plenty of sporadic percussion.
