Catskills-based composer, songwriter, and sound artist Matthew O’Neill has released his album, Through to Us, via his nonprofit label Panther Mountain. It arrives today, October 16, 2026.

Made through “direct collaboration with land, water, and the unseen,” this album is “a loving offering of reciprocity.” The track “Descent” has also been released.

O’Neill says:

I’m committed to site-responsive music and to building a body of work through long-term engagements with place. I hope it helps people remember ourselves as part of the land and the waters, and encourages us to create new worlds and positive futures in collaboration with the living world.

The track and video for “Descent” is a balance of a field recording merging with sonic textures that builds into a “symbolic descent down a mountain to a rushing stream.”

O’Neill says:

This piece is an experiential sonic portrait of a prayer walk that I do often when I need to receive clarity, grounding, and specific direction.

O’Neill will be doing album release shows this Fall with additional tour dates to be announced for the winter.
