The band Four Hundred Years are bringing their late-’90s Hardcore sound back to fans. The band has released a newly remixed and remastered version of “Transmit Failure”, the title track from their 1998 album, as a standalone single via Thirty Something Records and Lovitt Records.
Newly remixed by J. Robbins at The Magpie Cage Recording Studio and remastered by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Audio, the track reconnects the band with the Producer who originally recorded Transmit Failure at Inner Ear Studios in 1998.
Formed in Tucson, Arizona, in 1996, Four Hundred Years emerged from the city’s Hardcore scene before relocating to Richmond, Virginia. The four-piece, including Daron Hollowell, Dave Jackson, Erin Housholder and Ash Bruce, developed a sound that stretched their Hardcore roots into increasingly intricate and dynamic territory.
That evolution crystallized on Transmit Failure. The album “captured their political convictions, emotional intensity and musical experimentation.” Originally released by Lovitt Records, it became a lasting document of the DIY Hardcore community.

The newly revisited title track brings that history into the present, giving longtime listeners a fresh perspective on the recording while introducing a new audience to the band’s personality. Nearly three decades after its original release, “Transmit Failure” continues to be a “forceful expression of the restless spirit at the heart of Four Hundred Years.”
This release also marks the first step in a larger project connecting past, present and future for the band, revisiting the music that defined Four Hundred Years while opening the door to what comes next.
