Brother Starling Takes Stock Of Underlying Fractures With ‘The World We Broke’

Philadelphia-area Indie, Roots and Rock band Brother Starling have announced that they will release their sophomore full length album, The World We Broke, on November 20, 2026.

The album was Produced and engineered by longtime collaborator Derek Chafin at Barn Sound in Chester Springs, PA, and mastered by Peter Humphreys at Masterwork Recording, Inc.

In terms of trajectory, the album “looks squarely at the strange, fractured world of the past several years without surrendering to it.”

The album follows Brother Starling’s 2020 release The Weight of Change and represents years of writing, recording and evolution for the band. Where that earlier record arrived just before the world abruptly shut down, The World We Broke emerges from everything that followed. The album is “about trying to remain connected in a time seemingly designed to pull people apart.”

The songs on the album deal with “grief, technology, addiction, manipulation, love, anxiety, political and cultural division, and the relentless noise of modern life.” But they don’t offer answers, rather than songs look for a sense of human connection in order to pursue answers.

Brother Starling will be playing select dates in support of The World We Broke including
October 24 at The Fallser Club
and November 20 at 118 North.
