Breton producer Quinquis, (aka Émilie Quinquis) has shared details of scenes d’intérieur, her original soundtrack to Mélanie Leray’s stage production of the same name, loosely based on Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. The 5-track release comes out on the 13th of November 2026 via Mute.

The single “Lena” is out now.

The multi-media production blends theatre and film as it follows Chloé, an actress getting ready to perform the part of Nora in Ibsen’s play. The production details Chloé’s own relationship breaking down, while a parallel story (depicted on film) shows her childhood, brought up by her mother, a victim of domestic violence.

Ibsen’s work, which premiered in 1879, caused a scandal on release as it questioned the traditional roles of men and women in marriage, and is woven throughout the two timelines, highlighting the production’s universal themes: “control and the quest for emancipation.”

Across the piece, Émilie uses modular electronics to score the live theatre performances, and acoustic instrumentation for the film sections of the production, “further highlighting the dialogue between past and present that exists on stage and in a society without gender equality.”

The new album was recorded on Ushant Island, off the coast of Brittany, where Émilie lives, and features a track recorded with Amandawe-based labelmate Desire Marea, ‘Inkanuko’.
