Muto, the solo project of Italian composer and guitarist Davide Martiello, has announced the upcoming release of its debut album. The name Muto plays with the idea of “mute”, the absence of vocals, while also “evoking transformation, growth, and change.” In contrast to the Greek “muthos”, traditionally linked to the power of spoken words, Muto “explores what remains when words disappear.” The debut album arrives on October 9, 2026.

Born in Montevarchi, Italy and now based in Florence, Martiello is a musician and composer with a background spanning Jazz, contemporary music, and multimedia performance. He studied acoustic and electric guitar with Maestro Livio Guardi and graduated from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, completing programs in Jazz Guitar under Maestro Umberto Fiorentino and in Music and New Technologies under Maestro Marco Ligabue. During his studies he developed a prototype orchestral conducting system designed for blind musicians.

Beyond his solo work, Martiello collaborates across disciplines, composing for ensembles, theater productions, multimedia performances, and educational projects. Since 2020 he has also run Suite Ohm Studio, a creative hub offering recording, music production, rehearsal spaces, and training programs. He regularly organizes concerts independently and performs in various underground projects ranging from Metal and Post-Rock to experimental multimedia performances.

Launched in 2025, Muto marks a new artistic chapter for Martiello: a project “dedicated to communicating through purely instrumental sound.” The debut album “presents music as an evolving space of transformation, where meaning is not spoken, but felt.”
