Singer/songwriter Alisan Porter has released new single, “Man Out of You,” featuring Tony Award winner, Grammy Award nominee, and Broadway performer Shoshana Bean. The song explores “emotional accountability, self-worth, and the empowering decision to stop trying to change someone else and instead choose yourself.”

Porter explains:

‘Man Out of You’ is the story of one of your best girlfriends telling you, once again, how a man let her down. This time, I realized I needed to write about it. Shoshana and I have walked parallel paths for years as independent artists. This collaboration became a celebration of our sisterhood and an opportunity to help tell part of her story.

“Man Out of You” continues the introduction of Porter’s self-described “Perimenopop” era, a collection of “emotionally honest songs inspired by womanhood, motherhood, reinvention, and the freedom that comes from fully owning your voice.”

Bean is known for originating the role of Elphaba in Wicked and starring in productions including Hell’s Kitchen and Waitress. Her recording career and performance style make this collaboration a natural pairing between two artists whose friendship and musical journeys have run parallel for years.

Best known for her childhood starring role in Curly Sue, her Broadway career, and winning Season 10 of The Voice, Porter has spent many years evolving as both an artist and songwriter. Her Broadway credits include A Chorus Line, Footloose, and Hair.

Later this year, Porter will release her fifth studio album, her first fully self-written and self-produced project. Created alongside longtime collaborators and co-producers Drew McKeon and Sam Barsh, the album was recorded live in Studio A at Chaplin Recording Studios in Los Angeles.

The project also features musicians Leland Sklar and David Levita, on songs that “chronicle resilience, transformation, and reclaiming one’s voice.”
