Death Metal and Grindcore band Misery Index, which features current and former members of Dying Fetus and Pig Destroyer, started 2026 by re-signing to Season of Mist. Now, as they prepare to embark on a headline tour of Europe and the United Kingdom, they have released their first new single in four years, “Feral Future”.

The band’s bassist and vocalist Jason Netherton says:

‘Feral Future’ is about changing the way we think about our relationship with nature. Nature isn’t something we rule over or exist outside of. It’s something we are immersed in everywhere all the time. This song champions the rewilding of damaged and corrupted human spaces and reclaims a more feral connection that respects the sublime wonder of nature.

On “Feral Future”, Misery Index sharply focuses their social commentary and it was one of the very first songs written for their upcoming eighth album. Its energy “helped shape the album’s thematic core.”

The song is a “grim warning for the fate of our planet” and the accompanying lyric video was created by Cloud Motion Design.
