“Weird Al” Yankovic is currently out on his biggest US headline tour yet, hitting 90 cities and promising that things are “Bigger and Weirder” based on the name of the tour. With a massive repertoire of parody and original songs already under his belt, Weird Al doesn’t need an album out to do a tour, but his latest has been Mandatory Fun, in 2014, which had plenty of standout tracks. We attended the New Jersey show on Sunday, July 12th, 2026, at the PNC Bank Arts Center, an outdoor amphitheater, and the show benefited from clear weather, after dangerously flooding rainfall in the region the previous day.

What the “Bigger and Weirder” nomenclature referred to became clear during the performance: It was Weird Al and his band’s approach to the concert itself, incorporating more costumes, and therefore more costume changes, and also bringing a clock-like precision to building several separate song blocks that quickly cut together some of Weird Al’s most beloved songs. Between those mash-ups, the audience also got to hear many full songs from throughout his catalog. One final expansion was the further incorporation of audio visual elements, suggesting Weird Al’s personal history, wide impact on pop culture, and also his trademark humor and skepticism in the face of the musical celebrity making machine that is the media.

Was it “Bigger and Weirder”? Oh, yes. It was also geared towards fan-pleasing reveals, such as opening the show with “Tacky” featuring Weird Al approaching the stage through the back concert area of the amphitheater, singing all the way through to his appearance on the stage (mimicking his classic video’s visual flow, which was in turn based on the video for the song “Happy” which “Tacky” parodies). Another fan-pleasing moment was bringing the Star Wars-themed songs together at the end of the show, including the band in full costume, accompanying Storm Troopers, and plenty of screen visuals to boot.

Not only was the precision of the timing throughout the show impressive, but the band was high energy, full involved, and made it clear that for Weird Al to bring his music to the concert-going public, he needs a kick-ass fleet of musicians (who can also dance) behind him.
