Austin singer/songwriter Ali Holder has released new single, “Persephone,” a track which “finds growth in the shadows.” “Persephone” is the newest release from Garden of the Underworld, which arrives as an EP on Sept. 11, 2026.
It’s an EP that “dives into grief, desire, mythology, and the strange freedom of starting over.” It has Gothic Americana elements and the track “Persephone”stands at the heart of the project, since Garden of the Underworld was named for the goddess.
Previously released singles from Garden of the Underworld include “When You’re Ready,” which examines the “liminal space after a marriage ends and before remembering who you are again.” Written after Holder’s divorce, it “captures the disorienting rush of feeling lust, heartbreak, and longing.”

Another previous release is “Different Kind of Lonely” which “uncovers the contrast of loneliness inside a marriage and after” which are “two entirely different things.”
Holder will preview Garden of the Underworld at Waterloo Records in Austin on July 17, 2026, with a full ensemble (featuring cello, keys, and electric guitar) to recreate the album’s textures.
