British singer/songwriter Robyn Hitchcock has shared his new song, “Yesterday’s Rain.” It’s accompanied by a surreal official music video filmed poolside in Los Angeles, CA.

The video was directed by Emmy Award-winning comedy writer Scott Jacobson, who, in addition to writing for Bob’s Burgers and The Daily Show, has made music videos for The National, Dinosaur Jr., Nick Lowe, Superchunk, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, among others. The video features a cast of comedians Maria Bamford, Eugene Mirman, and David Herman

Hitchcock says about the song’s lyrics:

Yesterday’s rain falls on tomorrow’s parade. The sins of the past call the shots for the future. And on the way, you get the flag, the lilac tomb, and the crocodile on skis. It’s all good! More classic Brit-rock, played as only Americans can.

“Yesterday’s Rain” follows the release of the album’s third single, How To Feel Alright.” Both songs herald the arrival of Hitchcock’s 25th solo studio album and first collection of all-new original songs in nearly four years, which will be released everywhere on Friday, July 24, 2026, titled The Confuser.
