Rite Field Records has signed Denton, Texas-based band A Brief Memoir for the release of their forthcoming self-titled album. The record follows several years of self-released music, including a 2022 demo, the 2023 single “Night Night,” the EP Ode to Raul, and Two Songs from 2026. It is the band’s first release with the label.
For A Brief Memoir, the album comes after an uneven early period, with long gaps between activity, but the new record comes from a “steadier version” of the band with “a consistent lineup, regular writing, and a clearer sense of what should stay in the songs.”
The self-titled album is “written around absence, memory, care, and accepting what cannot be changed.” The songs “touch on distance, grief, old friendships, old homes, love, and gratitude.”

A Brief Memoir also includes members active in other Texas Emo and Slowcore projects, placing the band within a Denton and North Texas scene where Emo, Post-Hardcore, and Indie Rock often overlap.
