Minneapolis-based experimental artist and Producer student 1 will be releasing his fourth record, truant, on June 19th, 2026. The album was Produced, written, mixed and mastered by the Ethiopian-Eritrean artist who is engaged in “excavating internal and external unknowns in pursuit of overall improvement.”

His name, student 1, came out of irony. After dropping out of an undergraduate degree, the name became “a commitment to study sound as he studies life, prioritizing learning and growth with unflinching optimism.” 

Now after ten, with global reach and hundreds of shows under his belt, student 1 “embodies the act of finding freedom from doubt and negativity.” He remains “a champion of the underdog.”

He will be heading out on a summer tour, with dates below.
