Maui-born Country artist Lily Meola has released her new single “You and I.” The track is the latest from her debut album Lucky to Be, which is due out this summer through Nettwerk Music Group. The song “reflects on the serendipitous nature of love and the simple odds of existence.” This is a theme we will also find on her upcoming album.

Meola comments:

While writing the songs that became Lucky to Be, I came across this statistic that said the chances of you being born are one in 400 trillion. That stopped me in my tracks. It made me realize the chances of simply being alive are so slim. And despite all the good and bad things I’ve had thrown my way, I’m lucky to be experiencing it. We all are.

On Lucky to Be, Meola celebrates being an Hawaii native, a daughter, a protégé of Willie Nelson, a mentee of Jackson Brown and Grammy-winning producer Bob Rock.

Meola comments on her heritage and the Western edge to her music:

You can’t get any further west than Hawaii. Country music is extremely popular in Hawaii and always has been. We have such a huge ranching scene here, and everyone knows the paniolo, the Hawaiian cowboys.
