Singer/songwriter and pianist Mackenzie Shivers has released a new single, a cover of The Wallflowers song “One Headlight” alongside a video. It hails from her recently released “work-in-progress” EP Everything’s a Vibe, part of a full album releasing later this year. The EP is available exclusively on Bandcamp.
Shivers originally intended to make a Pop record as her next release, but found the events of recent years flooded her memory and demanded attention, and her work began to “mold these memories.” She wanted to create music that “mirrored the friction of her new reality.”
Shivers’ version of “One Headlight” is an “heirloom of her adolescence reimagined through her time singing with Irish musicians at O’Donoghue’s in Dublin.”
The track features Mackenzie Shivers on piano, vocals, melodion, and electric piano, Kevin Salem on mandolin, and electric guitar, Yuka Tadano on bass, and Cody Rahn on drums.

Shivers’ upcoming EP, Everything’s A Vibe is piano-driven and “an imagined future built from the scraps of the past.” It finds something “familiar” hidden in a “dark depth.”
