Fruit Bats Blends Memory, Love, And Heartache Into “Think Aboutcha”

The artist Fruit Bats has released the new track “Think Aboutcha”, which appears on the forthcoming album, The Landfill, out June 12th, 2026, via Merge Records.

Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Eric D. Johnson of Fruitbats says:

‘Think Aboutcha’ is a song about a preoccupation that has made its way into many of my lyrics: the liminal space in a dream where memories and love and heartache blur into a psychedelic haze. It was recorded live at Bear Creek Studios on a rainy spring day in Washington State. It pretty much sounds like how we sounded playing in that beautiful barn that day, save for a few tiny overdubs and mix magic.

The Landfill was inspired by Johnson’s Midwestern upbringing and seeing hills that did not rise from natural evolution. For Johnson, those sites became a powerful metaphor. The Landfill imagines “standing atop a towering pile of history—personal, emotional, and cultural—using that unlikely vantage point to survey what lies ahead.”

Fruit Bats recently announced an extensive North American tour that takes place throughout June, July, October and November.
