Rone’s ‘Megaptera’ Album Attempts To Resonate With Whales Through Music

Rone has announced his first album in 6 years, titled Megaptera, exploring “resonance at sea”. The album was born from a research-based film project, where the record was largely composed at sea, off the coasts of Brittany and Reunion Island.

The artist used a modular synthesizer, melodic sketches, and human vocal elements, and was essentially “attempting to resonate with whales through music.” The album arrives on June 12th, 2026.

This follows the previous release, Room With a View, which was a soundtrack to a performance created with the alternative dance company (La) Horde, exploring “collapse and rebirth”. The previous work emerged from reflections on “ecological, social, and technological tipping points”, whereas Megaptera “marks a shift: away from the city, toward the sea.”
